The mechanical engineering industry includes the production of a broad range of capital goods, machinery and plants for different industrial sectors (including ceramics, woodworking, packaging, agriculture and building) and the automotive industry. The manufacturing and mechanical engineering industry started growing in the Fifties and represents one of the main sectors of specialization of the Modena economy. The volume of business of the companies in the industry is equal to around 30% of the total value of the manufacturing industry as a whole. The industry also accounts for a large share of the exports of the province as a whole (45%), and for 33% of all manufacturing industry workers.
Sviluppatasi a partire dagli anni ’50, l’industria delle costruzioni e delle lavorazioni meccaniche rappresenta uno dei principali settori di specializzazione dell’economia modenese. Il volume d’affari delle imprese del settore è pari a circa il 30% del valore complessivo di tutta l’industria manifatturiera. Considerevole anche la quota delle esportazioni sul totale provinciale (45%), mentre gli addetti rappresentano il 33% dell’occupazione complessiva dell’industria manifatturiera.
